Happy Tooth

Age: 0-1 Years

Pre-Social Studies Knowledge Standard: SE 1

In the State Early Learning Standards Developmental Domain: Infants can share the following:

  • Smiles and shows pleasure when others talk to them
  • Seeks attention and contact with people
  • Expresses comfort or discomfort
  • Vocalizes in response to sounds produced by others

Objective: The goal of this activity is to begin recording special little events in your child’s life to store in their scrapbook. In years to come, their self-image will be developed in a positive way as they enjoy seeing their own accomplishments. The Happy Tooth is a certificate to celebrate your baby’s first tooth.

Materials needed: 

  • 1/8 Sheet of white Poster Board
  • Pattern for a tooth
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Contact Paper

What to Do:

  1. Trace around the pattern on the sheet of poster board.
  2. Cut along the lines.
  3. With a dark marker trace around the outside edge of the tooth. Mark the inside indentions of the tooth.
  4. Draw a happy face on the tooth.
  5. On the back side of the tooth write the following:
  6. Name of child
  7. Date tooth was found
  8. Who found the tooth
  9. Which tooth was it
  10. What the day was like
  11. Cover with clear contact paper to preserve
  12. Store in scrapbook or display on front of refrigerator
